The Wright State men's basketball team's Horizon League road opener at Oakland has been selected as an ESPNU Wild Card game, the league and network announced on Tuesday.
Â
The Raiders and Golden Grizzlies will remain a 7 p.m. tipoff on January 3, but will now be a nationally televised game on ESPNU instead of only streaming on the ESPN platforms.
Â
With the selection, Wright State now has four of its Horizon League games scheduled to be broadcast on ESPN linear television, beginning at Oakland. Raider fans and the Nutter Center will be shown off to the national audience on January 24 when Wright State hosts Northern Kentucky. The ESPN cameras will be back three weeks later when Wright State hosts UIC on ESPN2. Both of Wright State's home television contests will be 9 p.m. tipoffs.
Â
The Raiders will help close out the regular season in front of the national audience on February 28 when they travel to Northern Kentucky for a 7 p.m. game on ESPNU.
Â
The Horizon League will have six total games on ESPN linear television – with the Raiders being involved in four of those. The addition of the two wild card games this season ensures the best Horizon League matchups possible to a national audience on those dates.
Â
Wright State returns to action on Tuesday night when the Raiders (8-3) host Mississippi Valley State to close out a four-game homestand inside the Nutter Center. After a quick trip north to take on Toledo on December 21, Wright State returns home to open Horizon League play with a pair of home games against Green Bay (Dec. 28) and Milwaukee (Dec. 30).
