Wright State men's basketball center Loudon Love has been named the Horizon League's Player of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Â
Love turned in back-to-back double-digit scoring games as the Raiders opened Horizon League play with a pair of wins, opening conference play with his fourth double-double of the season as he finished with 22 points and 16 rebounds to lead all players in both categories against Green Bay. He followed that up with a 16-point, nine rebound effort on Monday night against Milwaukee.
Â
For the two games, Love finished with 38 points and 25 rebounds – 21 of which came on the defensive glass – along with seven assists and one block in 53 total minutes of action. For the season, he leads Wright State in both scoring and rebounding, averaging just under a double-double at 9.3 points per game and 14.1 rebounds per game.
Â
Wright State is 12-3 on the season and has won five straight games. The Raiders now set out on a four-game road trip, beginning on Friday night at Oakland in a nationally broadcast game on ESPNU. The trip will also see games against Detroit Mercy, IUPUI and UIC before they return home to the Nutter Center on January 16.
Â
Love's selection is Wright State's first Horizon League Player of the Week honor this season, but the second league recognition in as many weeks after Tanner Holden was named the Horizon League Freshman of the Week on December 23. Grant Basile also earned Freshman of the Week accolades on November 25.
