@WSUWBasketball Look to Seal Regular-Season Title at Oakland Saturday

Raiders Clinched Top Seed

The Wright State women's basketball team will finish off their regular season slate against the Oakland Grizzlies in Rochester, MI on Saturday. The game is scheduled to tipoff at noon at the Athletics Center O'rena.

The Raiders (23-6, 15-2) are heading into the O'rena coming off of a 76-73 win in which Wright State had to stymie off a late game push by Detroit in the fourth quarter. In the game, Symone Simmons led the Raiders with 17 rebounds and added 6 points. With her effort against the Titans, Simmons became the establishing member of the Wright State basketball 1,000 Rebound Club. Simmons is also currently sitting just four points away from becoming the Raiders' 22nd member of the 1,000 Point Club. Angel Baker led the offense against the Titans with 20 points, her second highest total of the season. 

Wright State clinched the top seed of the Little Caesars Motor City Madness Horizon League Tournament and will host Oakland Tue., March 5 at 5:30 pm.  WSU will be looking to seal their first Horizon League regular-season title with a win Saturday. 

On the season, the Raiders are led by senior Mackenzie Taylor (11.9 ppg) and junior Michal Miller (11.8 ppg) who rank ninth and 10th respectively in the league in scoring. On the other end of the hardwood, Symone Simmons leads the team and the conference in rebounding with a 10.0 average on the season. Wright State leads the all-time series 12-1 with Oakland's last win coming on Feb. 11, 1989.

Oakland
The Grizzlies (6-22, 3-14) are hosting the last regular season game coming off of a 63-74 loss to the Northern Kentucky Norse on Thursday night. The Grizzlies kept even with the Norse but were unable to keep pace with their 22 points in the fourth quarter. Oakland held a narrow lead with 3:09 remaining in the game but a 13-0 run by the by the Norse closed the game. 

The Grizzlies feature two players in the Top-10 of rebounding in the conference. Taylor Jones (7.0 rebounds/game) ranks seventh in the conference and Chloe Guingrich (6.7) ranks 10th overall. Jones also ranks 3rd overall in conference scoring (14.6ppg) and Kahleijah Dean (11.9ppg) is 10th in the Horizon League. 

Motor City Madness Quarterfinal Tickets
The men and the women will host a home quarterfinal game on Tuesday, March 5.  The women will play first at 5:30, followed by the men at 8:00.  Doors will open at 4:30.  Tickets for the double-header are $10 for Premium seats (first 12 rows) and $5 for all other seat locations. Coaches Shows at Flyboys
The Wright State men's and women's Coaches Shows will return March 4 at Flyboys Deli in the Fairfield Mall for the final shows of the year.  Men's head coach Scott Nagy will be on at 6 pm.  Women's coach Katrina Merriweather will be on at 5:30 pm.  Fans can come by for delicious food or tune in WONE, 980 AM or use the iHeart App.  It will also be streamed live through wsuraiders.com.
