Wright State (6-9) travels to Kennesaw, Georgia for the Bailey Memorial Tournament this weekend. The weekend slate wraps up the final mid-season tournament for the Raiders, who open the home season on Wednesday, March 20. Wright State is slated to play five games over Friday, Saturday, and Sunday where the Raiders will play Kennesaw State, Saint Louis, and Western Kentucky before being put into a bracket to conclude the weekend.
The Raiders have experienced recent struggles at the plate, having been shutout in their last three appearances. Despite the three-game skid, the Wright State offense led by Rebekah Lenos and Madison Whitaker has performed well this season. Earlier this year, the team won four out of five games, scoring 38 runs over that span. Lenos is hitting a team-leading .440 average this year and recorded three of the five Raider hits against Middle Tennessee on Wednesday. Lenos has recently been moved up to the lead-off spot in the lineup. Madison Whitaker has recorded 17 RBI along with three home runs with an average of .409. Whitaker is one of just two WSU players to start in each of the 15 games.
Wright State will begin the tournament on Friday against Western Kentucky at 11:30 AM. The Hilltoppers present the toughest challenge to the Raiders, having started the season strong at 13-2. Kendall Smith has provided a significant offensive contribution during the team's eight-game win streak. Smith has four home runs and leads the team in RBI (11) and batting average (.390). Kennedy Sullivan and Shelby Nolan have both dominated in the circle for the Hilltoppers, who lead the all-time series against Wright State 2-6. The second Wright State game on Friday will feature Saint Louis. The Bilikens have recorded just two wins on the year and recently dropped all three games at the Coach B Classic in Chattanooga last weekend. Kennesaw State hosts the Bailey Memorial Tournament after winning four straight. Jade Lee has hit .457 in eleven appearances for the Owls, and Hailey Andrews has recorded 62.2 innings with an 2.68 ERA.
