Aleksandar Dozic, who will graduate from Marist College this month, will transfer to Wright State and is immediately eligible to play basketball for the Raiders next fall, WSU head coach Scott Nagy announced today.
Dozic, a 6-9 215-pound forward, played in all 31 games last season for the Red Foxes. In his two seasons at Marist, Dozic averaged 7.1 points while grabbing 3.9 rebounds per game. He poured in a career high 19 points with four made three pointers during a contest against The Citadel his sophomore season.
"Aleksandar is a very skilled offensive big that can stretch the floor but also play in the post," Coach Nagy said. "His ability to shoot and pass the basketball coupled with his high level of basketball IQ makes him a great fit for our program."
The Podgorica, Montenegro native has extensive international experience, having played for the U18 Montenegro National Team from 2011-15. Dozic played a role in capturing the U18 European Championship in 2013.
Dozic will join Northwestern graduate transfer Jordan Ash, Grand Canyon transfer Tim Finke and other newcomers who signed in the early signing period: Trey Calvin from St Viator (IL) High School, Andre Harris from Charles F. Brush (OH) High School and Tanner Holden from Wheelersburg (OH) High School. Â
Â
Wright State won the Horizon League regular season in 2019, advancing to the school's first National Invitation Tournament (NIT) with a record of 21-14, 13-5. Coach Nagy was tabbed the Horizon League Coach of the Year for the second straight season.
