
Men's Golf smashes 54 hole record to open fall season

The Wright State golf team opened its 2019 fall schedule with a fifth place finish at the Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational Tuesday afternoon. The Raiders posted a 14-under par team score, shattering the program's 54 hole tournament record by six shots.

Junior Bryce Haney finished tied for ninth with a six-under 207 for the tournament to pace the Raiders, who had four players finish in the top 20. Freshmen Mikkel Mathieson (three-under, 17th overall) and Tyler Goecke (two-under, T-20th) both shot their first collegiate rounds in the 60s, while senior Austin Schoonmaker also finished tied for 20th with his two-under tournament. Sophomore Cole Corder rounded out the Raider team scoring with a six-over tournament card, while fellow sophomore Davis Root competed as an unattached individual and also carded a six-over score.

The Raiders are back in action next week at the Crusader Intercollegiate.
