2019-2020 Horizon League Men's Basketball Schedule Revealed

The Horizon League released the 2019-2020 men's basketball conference schedule on Tuesday afternoon, and the Wright State men's basketball team will open its 18-game league slate with a pair of home games in late December.
The Raiders will close out the 2019 calendar year with conference home games on December 28 and 30, opening league play against Green Bay and Milwaukee inside the Nutter Center. Wright State will then hit the road for its next four games, ringing in the New Year at Oakland, Detroit Mercy, IUPUI and UIC.
Wright State returns to the Nutter Center for a three-game homestand beginning January 16 against Cleveland State, followed by visits from Youngstown State on January 18 and Northern Kentucky on January 24. After a quick trip on the road to face Milwaukee (January 31) and Green Bay (February 2), the Raiders will play host to their next four matchups: Detroit Mercy (February 6), Oakland (February 8), UIC (February 14) and IUPUI (February 16). The regular season schedule ends with three road games for Wright State, as the Raiders travel to take on Youngstown State (February 20), Cleveland State (February 22) and Northern Kentucky (February 28).
The 2020 Horizon League Basketball Championships begin on March 3 with first round games at campus sites, followed by quarterfinal matchups on campuses March 5. The semifinals and championship will take place in Indianapolis at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum located at the Indiana State Fairgrounds & Event Center on March 9 and 10.Â

    Green Bay (Dec. 28, Nutter Center; Feb. 2, Green Bay) Green Bay finished the 2018-19 season with a 21-17 overall record, including a 10-8 mark in Horizon League play. The Raiders and the Phoenix split their regular season matchups with each winning at home, with Wright State defeating Green Bay in the Horizon League Tournament semifinals. A tight series throughout history, Green Bay has a slim, 32-31 overall series lead entering 2019-20.

    Milwaukee (Dec. 30, Nutter Center; Jan. 31, Milwaukee) Milwaukee finished 9-22 overall and 4-14 in the Horizon League last season, with the Raiders winning both matchups by a combined five points after a 56-54 win inside the Nutter Center and a 65-62 road victory. The Raiders hold a slight 31-30 lead over Milwaukee in the overall series.

Oakland (Jan. 3, Rochester, MI; Feb. 8, Nutter Center) Oakland finished one game under .500 in 2018-19, compiling a 16-17 overall record but finishing with an 11-7 mark in Horizon League play. Wright State won both matchups last season by double digits, first tallying an 89-73 road win before a 76-62 victory at home. The Raiders lead the overall series 13-7 against the Grizzlies.

    Detroit Mercy (Jan. 5, Detroit; Feb. 6, Nutter Center) Detroit Mercy finished 2018-19 with an 11-20 record and an 8-10 mark in conference play, splitting the season series with the Raiders. Each team won on its home court, as Wright State fell 79-58 on the road before an 83-60 victory inside the Nutter Center. The Raiders enter the 2019-20 season with a 32-27 overall series advantage.

    IUPUI (Jan. 10, Indianapolis; Feb. 16, Nutter Center) IUPUI played .500 basketball last season, finishing with a 17-17 overall record in 2018-19. The Jaguars were 8-10 in Horizon League play, with Wright State winning both regular season matchups and eliminating IUPUI from the Horizon League Tournament quarterfinals. The Raiders hold a 13-3 overall series advantage entering 2019-20.

    UIC (Jan. 12, Chicago; Feb. 14, Nutter Center) UIC recorded a 16-16 overall record last season with a 10-8 mark in Horizon League play. The Flames were the only team to hand Wright State two losses in regular season league play last season, as Wright State fell 75-72 in overtime to open the conference schedule before a 67-53 road loss. The Raiders hold a slight 31-29 lead over UIC in the overall series.

    Cleveland State (Jan. 16, Nutter Center; Feb. 22, Cleveland) Cleveland State finished the 2018-19 season with a 10-21 overall record and a 5-13 mark in Horizon League play. The Raiders tallied a pair of double-digit victories over the Vikings last season and enter the 2019-20 campaign with a 39-34 overall series lead.

    Youngstown State (Jan. 18, Nutter Center; Feb. 20, Youngstown) Youngstown State finished 12-20 overall and 8-10 in the Horizon League last season as the Raiders recorded wins in both meetings, including a 28-point home victory in late February. Wright State leads the overall series 47-12 entering the 2019-20 campaign.

    Northern Kentucky (Jan. 24, Nutter Center; Feb. 28, Highland Heights, KY) Northern Kentucky recorded a Horizon League-best 26 victories last season (26-10) and shared the league regular season title with Wright State at 13-5. The Norse won two of the team's three meetings last season as each team won on its home court during the regular season before Northern Kentucky won the Horizon League Tournament final 77-66. Wright State leads the overall series 24-12 entering 2019-20.
