
Wright State returns to Nutter Center, welcomes Detroit Mercy

The Wright State women's basketball team returns to the Nutter Center for the start of a four-game homestand as the Raiders welcome Detroit Mercy on Thursday night, tipoff is set for 7 p.m.

Following a 63-55 victory on the road at NKU on Friday night, the Raiders are looking to remain in the win column. The Raiders were outscored 17-8 in the second quarter alone and headed into the locker room down six and eventually found themselves down 11. Wright State wasn't done fighting yet, as the Raiders fought back to outscore Northern Kentucky 23-6 in the fourth quarter alone and walk away with a win.
Sophomore Angel Baker had a game leading 29 points, finishing the contest shooting 11-for-21 from the field and 5-for-6 from the free throw line. Jada Roberson, Shamarre Hale and Tyler Frierson each finished with seven points. While Anisja Harris tallied six points of her own. Notably, Frierson had a game leading 15 rebounds.
With the victory, Wright State improved to 10-8 overall and 5-2 in Horizon League play while NKU fell to 9-9 overall and 3-4 in conference play.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
- Bernard Scott is in his fifth season at the helm of the Detroit Mercy women's basketball program. Scott led the Titans to two-straight winning campaigns during his first two seasons as head coach and the 2017 Horizon League Championship title game.
- Freshman Sylare Starks led Detroit Mercy in scoring for the seventh time this season and was in double figures for the 11th time in 18 contests against Youngstown State on Saturday, while Bridgid Fox was in double figures for the fifth time in her freshmen campaign with a career-high 15 points. Titan freshmen have scored in double figures 23 times in 2019-20.
- Detroit Mercy opened its 2019-20 at home against Loyola University Chicago where they were handed an 89-60 loss. The Titans' schedule also included contests against #17 Michigan State and Butler. Detroit Mercy is currently 2-16 overall and 2-5 in HL play as most recently fell to Youngstown State 47-62 on Saturday.
