
Wright State hosts Oakland on Alumni Day Saturday

The Wright State women's basketball team is back inside the Nutter Center for game two of a four-game homestand as the Raiders welcome Oakland on Saturday afternoon. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Women's Basketball Alumni Day inside the Nutter Center.

Despite winning the opening tip, Wright State was trailing 22-16 at the end of the first quarter but came into the second quarter fighting outscoring outscore Detroit Mercy 21-12 to head into the locker room with a three-point lead at 37-34. The third quarter was quiet as both teams combined to score just a total of 19 points. The final 10 minutes were a different story, as it was a back-and-forth before the Raiders ultimately held on and walked away with the victory.
Tyler Frierson had a game-high 17 points in route to her third double-double of the season, pulling down 11 rebounds and finishing the contest shooting 7-for-16 from the field. Alexis Stover added 15 points of her own, connecting on three of her five three-point attempts and finishing 6-for-12 from the field. Anisja Harris and Shamarre Hale both contributed 10 points, respectively. Hale also had a game-leading 13 rebounds.
With the victory, Wright State improved to 11-8 overall and 6-2 in Horizon League play while Detroit Mercy fell to 2-17 overall and 2-6 in conference play.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
- Jeff Tungate is in his seventh season at the helm of the Oakland women's basketball program. He spent seven seasons overall with the men's basketball program, six as associate head coach. The Golden Grizzlies experienced unmatched success, making three NCAA tournaments and winning five Summit League championships during his tenure.
- Oakland is second in the Horizon League in free throw percentage (76.1) which also ranks 23rd nationally. For the second time this season, Oakland shot over 40 percent from both the field (40.3) and 3-point range (40.9) against Green Bay. The Golden Grizzlies also shot 43.3 and 43.8 from the field and from behind the arc respectively against Lourdes (12/21).
- Oakland opened its 2019-20 at home against Bradley University where they were handed a 74-58 loss. The Titans' schedule also included contests against #15 Michigan State and #24 University of Michigan. Oakland is currently 8-11 overall and 3-5 in HL play as they most recently fell on the road to Northern Kentucky, 69-60.
