
Wright State earns fourth consecutive HL victory

The Wright State women's basketball team improves to 4-1 in Horizon League play with a 58-43 victory on the road at UIC Thursday evening. The win over the Flames marked the Raiders fourth consecutive victory.
With the win, the Raiders improve to 9-7 (4-1 in Horizon League), while UIC falls to 2-14 overall (1-4 in Horizon League). Wright State will remain on the road and head to Indianapolis to face IUPUI on Saturday. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. from The Jungle.
Thursday's contest saw the score tied seven times and five lead changes before Wright State took control and remained in the driver's seat for the remainder of the contest. The Raiders recorded 14 steals to the Flames six, outscoring them 15-6 on fast break points. 28 of Wright State's 58 points came from the bench while 19 more came from second chance opportunities.
Freshman Jada Roberson tallied her third consecutive (4th overall) double-digit scoring night as she led the efforts for the Raiders with 16 points. Roberson finished the contest shooting 6-for-9 from the field and a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line, while pulling down seven rebounds for Wright State. Angel Baker added 12 points to the scorebook going 6-for-17 from the field and pulling down four rebounds. Tyler Frierson had a game-leading 12 rebounds for the Raiders.
Wright State shot just 34 percent for the game, while UIC finished at 35 percent. The Raiders out rebounded the Flames 52-33 and saw a 22-7 advantage on the offensive side of things. Wright State finished the night shooting 59 percent (10-for-17) from the free throw line while UIC connected on just 6 of their 15 such opportunities (40 percent).
