Pelayo and Whitney named HL Doubles Team of the Week

Wright State junior women's tennis players Luisa Pelayo and Grace Whitney have been named the Horizon League's Doubles Team of the Week, the league announced on Wednesday afternoon.

The Raiders' No. 1 doubles team of Pelayo and Whitney went 3-0 on the week to help the Wright State go 2-1 on its road trip to New York. The tandem began the weekend with a 6-1 win on the top line against Buffalo's Pia Schwarz and Ambre Amat. They followed up that performance later in the day with a 6-0 win over Binghamton's Samara Eisenberg and Michelle Eisenberg as Wright State defeated the Bearcats 5-2. The Raiders ended the road trip with a 7-0 win at Niagara as Pelayo and Whitney won at the No. 1 doubles line 6-1 against Erika Gonzalez and Megan Gamble.

Wright State is slated to be back in action at home on March 14 against St. Bonaventure before hosting Saint Francis on March 15 and Northern Kentucky on March 21.
