Raiders slip in Horizon League Semifinals

The Wright State men's basketball team couldn't get on track Monday night as the Raiders fell to UIC 73-56 in the 2020 Horizon League Championship semifinals at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum.

The Raiders (25-7) will now regroup and await their opponent in the 2020 NIT.

The opening four minutes told the story of the night, as UIC began the game 5-of-6 from the floor and opened up a 13-6 lead as Wright State was 1-of-3 from the floor over the same stretch. The Raiders went into the locker room down 41-26 at the break, and saw the Flames open the second half on an 8-5 scoring run over the first two and a half minutes to firmly grasp control of the game.

Wright State finished the night shooting 28 percent (17-60) from the floor while UIC was 29-for-60 form the floor for a 48 percent clip. Neither team shot well from deep, as the Raiders hit just four of their 16 three-point attempts and the Flames were 7-of-28 from beyond the arc. Wright State was 15-of-29 (52 percent) from the free throw stripe, while UIC was 11-for-15 (73 percent) from the stripe.

Bill Wampler was the lone Raider to finish in double figures scoring, tallying 14 points, while Jaylon Hall had eight points and both Trey Calvin and Grant Basile recorded seven each to pace the Wright State offense.

Tarkus Ferguson scored a game-high 25 points for the Flames, who had three players in double-digits. Ferguson was joined by Marcus Ottey's 13 points and a 10-point night from Braelen Bridges.
