Like programs across the country, the 2020 Wright State women's tennis season came to a sudden and abrupt ending due to the novel coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic.
 
The COVID-19 pandemic has shaken the sports world and collegiate tennis was no exception. NCAA President Mark Emmert and the Board of Governors announced the cancelations of all remaining winter and spring NCAA championships on March 12 and the Horizon League followed on March 16 with the announcement of the cancelation all remaining competition through the remainder of the academic year, officially closing the books on the Raider season.
 
Under the direction of first-year head coach Ben Roeser, the Raiders recorded a pair of victories in their limited action, with both of their wins coming on the road, against Binghamton and Niagara.
 
"We finished with come great momentum winning our last two matches," Roeser said. "Our only senior, Anna Jones, who possibly played her final match against Niagara, ended with a comeback three set win. I think this is how I want to remember this team and Anna - coming back and finishing strong after maybe not the best start. Not many teams and players get to end with a win. I am proud of them for their accomplishments on the court and in the classroom and I look forward to another season." 
 
Juniors Luisa Pelayo and Jillian Millano both finished with a team-best 7-4 record in singles action. In doubles play, Pelayo and her partner, junior Grace Whitney, compiled a team-leading 8-3 mark. Millano and her partner, sophomore Andreea Craciun, recorded a 5-4 record, but two of their contests would be marked unfinished.
 
Whitney would also tally a singles record of 4-6 in the shortened season. Jones recorded her lone singles victory against Niagara in what turned out to be the final match of the year, coming from behind to defeat Madigan Humiston in three sets, 6-3, 2-6, 1-0 (10-4) and she would compile a record of 3-8 with her doubles partner Anna Marie Reynolds.
 
The season's ending finished on a high note – in addition to the Raiders winning their last two matches as a team, the pair of Pelayo and Whitney went 3-0 in No. 1 doubles on Wright State's road trip to New York and were named the Horizon League's Doubles Team of the Week.
