Whitney named to Horizon League All-Academic Team

The Horizon League released its 2020 Women's Tennis All-Academic Team on Tuesday, recognizing student-athletes for their success both in competition and in the classroom. Wright State junior Grace Whitney was among the seven female student-athletes who were honored in balloting by the League's faculty athletics representatives.

An Earth & Environmental Sciences major, Whitney has appeared in 90 matches for Wright State during her career, playing both singles and doubles for the Raiders. She and doubles partner Luisa Pelayo were named the Doubles Team of the Week by the Horizon League on March 11, 2020 and the juniors have won 29 doubles matches in their career. Whitney was honored by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) in its Academic Awards following the 2017-18 season and was also part of Wright State's Women's ITA All-Academic Team recognitions in 2017 and 2018.

The Horizon League recognizes student-athletes with seasonal Academic All-League Teams in each of its 19 championship sports. To be eligible for Horizon League All-Academic consideration, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.20 or higher (based on a 4.00 scale), have completed at least one year at the member institution, having earned 24 semester-hour or 36 quarter-hour credits and be a starter or important reserve.
