Raiders turn in strong showing at the Live in the Lou Cross Country Classic

LOUISVILLE – Amidst a packed field, the Wright State men's and women's cross country teams turned in strong showings on Saturday morning at the Live in the Lou Cross Country Classic, as the Raider men finished 13th and the Wright State women turned in a 16th place finish.

The Raiders squared off against 61 other teams in the men's 8000m race while competing against 54 other teams in the women's 5000m race.

Abigail Halsey turned in a fourth-place finish on the women's side with her time of 18:08.9, while Emma Shigley was the second Raider to cross the line with her time of 19:07.7. Kaitlyn Miller (19:24.9)Â was the third Raider to finish, while Alicia Neumeier (20:31.9), Emma Johnson (20:31.9), Alycea Ruhlen (21:59.5), Anna Johnson (22:19.0), Megan King (22:31.6) and Brooklyn Salyers (23:44.9) also competed for the Wright State women.

On the men's side, Alex McCarty paced the Raiders with his seventh-place finish, turning in a time of 24:53.3. Tayton Hess finished 24th overall with a time of 25:24.3, followed by Jacob Poling's 32nd-place showing of 25:31.6. Ryan Cooper (27:14.8), Ethan Neblock (27:18.3), Nathan Sheriff (27:23.9), Bryce Hohman (27:36.5), Michael Board (28:46.5), Ben Bowers (28:48.9) and Alan Fullenkamp (29:22.8) also competed for the Raider men.

Wright State is scheduled to be back in competition on October 16 when the Raiders take part in the Falcon Invite hosted by Bowling Green.
