
Women's Basketball takes the Nutter Center floor for first time Wednesday

DAYTON -Â The Wright State women's basketball team takes the Nutter Center floor for the first home game of the Kari Hoffman Era on Wednesday afternoon as the Raiders welcome Xavier to town for a 2 p.m. contest.Â

Wright State saw four players reach double figures scoring, but host Green Bay always had an answer last Saturday afternoon as the Raiders fell 78-67 in Horizon League action. Destyne Jackson turned in her fourth double-digit scoring game of the season, finishing with a team-high 17 points on 5-of-13 shooting with a trio of three-point baskets. Channing Chappell added 13 points of her own, filling her final stat line with a team-leading four assists while pulling down three rebounds. Jada Roberson and Deesh Beck each ended the afternoon with 10 points, while Shamarre Hale posted a season-best eight points while leading Wright State with six rebounds.
JACKSON STEPPING UP
Destyne Jackson has turned in double-digit scoring performances in all four of Wright State's contests to date, including a career-best 17 against Green Bay on Nov. 20. Jackson, who played in all 27 contests with 14 starts as a freshman, averaged jsut 4.3 points per game last season with only three double-digit scoring games. Jackson is shooting 36 percent through four games, an increase from her 30 percent shooting mark from last season, while increasing her minutes per game from 25.2 to 33.5 to start this season.
WELCOME HOME
Wright State opens its home schedule inside the Nutter Center on Wednesday, having come off of a season-long four-game road swing to start the year. The Raiders play three of their next four contests at home, but will also have a pair of three-game road trips coming up later in the season, the first coming in late December. Wright State has a season-best three-game homestand in late January during Horizon League play.
XAVIER X-FILES
Xavier is 1-3 but is coming off a 70-49 home win vs Valparaiso on Nov. 21. The 21-point victory was Xavier's largest margin of victory since Jan. 10, 2020 and was also the first time Xavier kept an opponent under 50 points since Feb. 28, 2021. Nia Clark was named the BIG EAST Player of the Week on Nov. 22 after she averaged 21.5 points, 4.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game. Xavier has seven newcomers and is replacing over half of its points, rebounds and assists from players who departed the program in the offseason. The Musketeers lost 57.9 percent of their total points (549), 54.8 percent of their total rebounds (297) and 66.7 percent of their total assists (140).
