LAST TIME OUT
Wright State turned in one of its best two-way stretches of the season during Saturday's second half, going on a 23-2 run to grab control on the way to a 72-63 home victory over Tennessee Tech. Tanner Holden finished with a team-leading 22 points for the Raiders while adding six rebounds, three assists and two steals. Trey Calvin scored 12 of his 17 points over the final 20 minutes as he connected on a game-high three three-pointers, while Grant Basile turned in the afternoon's lone double-double, finishing with 14 points and 12 rebounds, while his four assists were also a game-high and matched his career-best.
LAST OF A TREND
Wright State and North Carolina State meet for the first time in program history on Tuesday night, continuing a trend for the Raiders this season. Tuesday's contest will be the sixth and final "first" matchup this year. The Raiders had a stretch earlier this season that saw them play first-time opponents in four straight contests, and five such games in six games overall.
REACH THE HORIZON
Among current Horizon League member institutions, Wright State becomes the eighth HL school to face North Carolina State, and the first since Detroit Mercy traveled to Raleigh on Nov. 10, 2019. Current Horizon League members are 9-1 against North Carolina State, with Green Bay notching the lone win - a 76-56 victory Nov. 26, 1993 as part of the now-defunct Great Alaska Shootout. Detroit Mercy has faced NC State an HL-high three times (including in the 1978 NIT), while Robert Morris is the only other HL school to have faced the Wolfpack multiple times (1991 and 2017).
STATE-MENTS
North Carolina State is 7-4 on the season following a 83-74 neutral site loss over Richmond on Friday night. The Wolfpack have notched a 6-1 mark at home to date and are yet to play a true road game. They are 1-3 on neutral courts, including a six-point loss to Oklahoma State and a 10-point overtime defeat against Purdue. North Carolina State's lone home loss was a five-point loss to Louisville in their only ACC game to date. North Carolina State has four players averaging double-digits scoring, paced by Dereon Seabron's 19.8 points per contest. Seabron is averaging a double-double, adding 10.8 rebounds per game, the only Wolfpack player averaging over five rebounds a night.
ACC REWIND
Wright State has had a couple of memorable recent moments against ACC foes. Its most recent contest against an ACC opponent was against Clemson and former head coach Brad Brownell in the opening round of the 2019 NIT, where the Raiders fell 75-69 in South Carolina. Wright State's last ACC win came in its last regular season contest, as the Raiders traveled down to and defeated Georgia Tech 85-81 on Dec. 22, 2017.
THE STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA
Wright State is 10-4 in program history against teams from the state of North Carolina, while the Raiders last two wins against North Carolina teams both came inside Tar Heel State - most recently, a 69-56 victory at Western Carolina on Dec. 18, 2014. Wright State's last postseason tournament victory came in a 73-59 win at East Carolina in the first round of the CollegeInsider.com Tournament on March 18, 2014.
