The Wright State women's soccer team fought through 106 minutes but were handed a 2-1 loss on the road Wednesday afternoon to start the 2021 spring season.

With the loss, the Raiders fall to 0-1-0 overall and 0-1-0 in HL play while the Vikings improve to 1-1-0 and 1-1-0 in conference play.

Sydni Callahan's shot from the right side of the 18-yard box gave Wright State a 1-0 lead in the 35th minute, a lead the Raiders would hold until the 76th minute. Cleveland State's Maddie Young connected on a corner kick to tie the contest at 1-all. The remainder of the contest saw both teams look to break the scoreline but ultimately 90 minutes would not be enough.

The first overtime period saw both teams take one shot, but neither was able to convert as CSU's Maddie Young's shot went wide left and Rylee Clark's shot in the 101st minute was saved. Cleveland State found the advantage in the second OT as the Vikings Elena Gutlove's controlled cross to the back post ended the contest after 106 minutes.

Wright State tallied just nine total shots to CSU's 28, with seven of their attempts going on goal (13 for the Vikings).
In goal, Jessika Seward recorded 11 saves to Cleveland State six.
Josie Krupp finished with a team-high two shots (two on goal), while Sydni Callahan had two shots (one on goal). Alainna Hoehnke had one shot, while Michelle Rings, Olga Massombo, Brittney Petrosky and Rylee Clark each had one shot, one on goal.
