
Wright State hits the road, faces Milwaukee Wednesday

The Wright State women's soccer team returns to the road to face off against Milwaukee on Wednesday afternoon for a 2 p.m. match up.

Wright State – The Raiders are coming off a 2-1 victory over Detroit Mercy last Wednesday to tally their first victory of the 2021 spring season. Wright State was first to score in the 13th minute as Rylee Clark put the hosts up 1-0. The Raiders would keep the momentum going to tally their second goal of the contest by way of Josie Krupp, who connected on a through ball from Olga Massombo in the 30th minute, which proved to be the game-winner. Detroit Mercy cut Wright State's lead in the 57th minute as Erica Toupin's kick from midfield was lifted over the head of keeper Jessika Seward, who came out to challenge the attack.
Milwaukee – Milwaukee is coming off a 1-0 victory of Horizon League newcomer Purdue Fort Wayne. A goal by Natalie Auble in the 10th minute was all Milwaukee needed, although the Panthers had plenty of opportunities to add to the scoreboard against the Mastodons, outshooting the visitors by a total of 20-6 on the afternoon.

SCOUTING THE PANTHERS
- Milwaukee is 27-9-6 all-time against the Raiders and will carry a seven-game unbeaten streak (6-0-1), as well as a five-game win streak, into play Wednesday. The last time Wright State was able to claim the victory was a 1-0 decision in 2014.
- Milwaukee is the five-time defending Horizon League champion and carries a conference record 35-game unbeaten streak (32-0-3) in regular-season league play into the matchup with the Raiders, the second-longest such streak in the country.
- Milwaukee was picked by league coaches to again take first in the Horizon League regular season. The Panthers tallied 10 first-place votes and 132 points in the coaches' poll to claim the No. 1 spot. Milwaukee finished the 2019 season with an overall record of 17-2-1 and 8-0-1 in HL play. The Panthers advanced to the first round of the 2019 NCAA Women's Division I Championship falling to No. 10 Wisconsin 1-0.
