
Distance Medley Relay takes first to highlight opening day of HL Championship

The Wright State women's track and field team opened the 2021 Horizon League Championship at Purdue Fort Wayne Friday afternoon, placing sixth (10pts) after day one of the four-day event.
The 4000-meter distance medley relay team of Emma Shigley, Alycea Ruhlen, Lauren Shuman, and Shelby Nolan paced the Raiders with their first place finish in the event with a new school-record time of 12:18.04, giving the Raiders their first DMR championship in program history. Wright State was trailing the pack entering the anchor leg when Nolan turned in a 4:52 split to take control of the race and give the Raiders the title.Â
Abigail Halsey turned in a top-20 result for the Raiders, placing 14th in the 5000-meter run with her time of 18:17.60.
In the Pentathlon, Bekah Robertson placed 18th, finishing with 2,426 points followed by Melissa Siler (20th: 2,248pts), Callista Hess (21st: 2,187pts), and Emily Maclean in 24th: 1,590 points.
