Horizon League announces #HLMSOC Preseason Poll

DAYTON/INDIANAPOLIS – The Wright State men's soccer team has been picked fifth in the Horizon League preseason poll, with the Raiders receiving 82 total points ahead of the 2021 season.

Wright State begins its regular season on Thursday night with a road trip north to take on Akron and follow that up with a trip to Kentucky on August 30. The Raiders open the year with a pair of road contests before returning to Alumni Field for their home opener on September 2 against Bradley.

The Raiders tallied a 5-3-1 mark in the abbreviated, Horizon League-only spring schedule, including a 4-1 record away from Alumni Field. Wright State was 11-8-4 back during the last full season in 2019, capturing the Horizon League Tournament via penalty kicks before defeating Notre Dame in the opening round of the 2019 NCAA Championship. The Raiders then battled Michigan through a scoreless 110 minutes in the second round before falling on penalty kicks.

Oakland was picked first in the preseason poll, followed by spring tournament champion Milwaukee in second.
