DAYTON – Former Wright State standout Cole Gentry has signed with Team Solent Kestrels to begin his professional career. Team Solent Kestrels is based in the Southampton, Hampshire and competes in NBL Division 1, the second tier of the British basketball system.
Â
Gentry begins his professional career after serving as a graduate assistant on the Wisconsin men's basketball staff during the 2020-21 season.
Â
"We are excited for Cole about this opportunity. His final year with us was cut short and there was a lot of unknowns heading into last season," Raider head coach Scott Nagy said. "He was presented with the opportunity to be a part of a Division I staff that won an NCAA tournament game. Now he can go do what he always wanted and play professionally. We know he will do well at the next level."
Â
Gentry finished his collegiate career with 1,018 points in 102 total games, beginning his career at South Dakota State before playing the final three years of his career at Wright State. His final career free throw percentage of .866 is third all-time in Wright State program history, while he collected 53 double-figure scoring games, and seven games of 20 or more points, while wearing the Raider uniform.
