Cross Country turns in a pair of fifth place finishes in Indy Friday night

INDIANAPOLIS – The Wright State men's and women's cross country teams got their first look at the competition and course for the 2021 Horizon League Championship on Friday night, with both squads finishing fifth as teams at the IUPUI Jaguar Invitational.

Abigail Halsey finished fifth overall in the women's 6K race with her time of 21:31.6 to pace the Raider women, while Alex McCarty's 25:50.2 led the Wright State men in the 8K race.

Following Halsey in the women's race was Alicia Neumeier (25, 23:39.1), Kaitlyn Miller (29, 24:01.6), Emma Shigley (32, 24:16.4), Emma Johnson (35, 24:53.3), Alycea Ruhlen (41, 27:05.0) and Megan King (42, 27:13.6).

In addition to McCarty in the men's race for the Raiders were Jacob Poling (23, 26:02.4) , Max Pettit (30 26:44.4), Bryce Hohman (36, 27:25.9), Ryan Cooper (37, 27:28.2), Tayton Hess (38, 27:32.8) and Nathan Sheriff (40, 28:00.3).

The races were held at Northview Church in Carmel, Indiana, which will also serve as the site for the 2021 Horizon League Cross Country Championship meet on October 30. Wright State will get its first chance to see how it stacks up to the rest of the Horizon, with several League schools participating, including: IUPUI, Milwaukee, Purdue Fort Wayne and UIC, along with former HL member Butler.

The Raiders will run for the final time in the month of September next Friday, September 17, at the All-Ohio Championships hosted by Cedarville.
