DAYTON – The Wright State women's soccer team used a late second half goal by Josie Krupp to knot Sunday's matchup at 1-1, but that would prove to be the final score as the Raiders and Youngstown State would play to a double overtime 1-1 draw at Alumni Field.
Krupp found the back of the net off a misplay by Youngstown State keeper Brooklyn Kirkpatrick, who came out towards the 18-yard mark to play the ball, but saw it bounce right towards Krupp to tie the score in the 82nd minute.
The Raiders (2-5-2, 0-1-1 HL) and Youngstown State (0-6-3, 0-0-2 HL) both would go on to record four total shots across the two extra periods but neither side could find the golden goal.
Wright State outshot the visiting Penguins 24-15, including throwing up 12 shots in the second period while looking for the equalizer. The Raiders finished the afternoon with 11 shots on frame to YSU's eight, while Wright State also had double the corner kick opportunities (12-6).
Maddie Mitchell and Brittney Petrosky each tallied four shots, with a pair each on frame, to lead the Raider offensive attack, while Kaylin Helinski and Sydni Callahana each finished with three shots of their own. On the opposite end, Wright State keeper Jessika Seward finished with seven saves.
Youngstown State got on the board early with Regan LaVigna's goal in the 22nd minute, one of her match-high five shots. Kirkpatrick finished with 10 saves for the Penguins.
The Raiders now get set for their second long trip in as many weeks, hitting the road for a Thursday night matchup at Green Bay that will be streamed on ESPN+.
