Cross Country splits for meets at Wilmington and Bradley

DAYTON — The Wright State men's and women's cross country teams will split for a pair of meets on Friday, October 14. The majority of the program will compete at the Jenna Strong Fall Classic, while a select group of Raider men will race at the Bradley Pink Classic.Â
The Jenna Strong Fall Classic hosted by Wilmington College will start at 4:30 p.m. with the women's 5,000-meter run, followed by the men's 8,000-meter race at 5:15 p.m. Live results can be found on FinishTiming.com. The meet will also stream on Facebook Live.Â
John Carroll's Alex Phillip broke the men's 8K course record with a time of 24:07.8 at last year's meet. Sharon Ronah of Lindsey Wilson College set the women's 5K course record in 2012 with a finishing mark of 17:11.45.

The Bradley Pink Classic will be held at the Newman Golf Course in Peoria, Illinois. The Raiders will race in the men's 8K at 3:45 p.m., which features several Division I programs, including Horizon League schools IUPUI, Northern Kentucky, Oakland, and Purdue Fort Wayne.Â
Last year's 8K winner finished with a time of 23:41.1. The record time at the event was last set by DePaul's Matthew Graham at 23:37 in 2010.Â

The Raiders last competed in the 21st annual Live in Lou Cross Country Classic two weekends ago at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park.Â
The Wright State women's finished 29th out of 47 schools in the 5,000-meter race with an average time of 19:43.7. The men's team took 28th overall in the 8,000-meter run with an average mark of 25:26.4.Â
Alicia Neumeier highlighted the women's team efforts, as she finished 35th out of 419 competitors with a personal-record time of 18:32.2. Emma Shigley posted a PR time of 18:46.3, good for 55th overall. Emma Johnson rounded out Raiders in the top 100, taking 78th with a mark of 19:00.8.Â
Max Pettit led the Raiders on the men's side by earning 79th overall with a time of 24:39.4, besting his previous career-best mark set two weekends ago at the All-Ohio Championships. Alex McCarty was close behind Pettit in 100th place with a personal-record time of 24:47.4 in the race.Â
Wright State will return to competition Saturday, October 29, at the Horizon League Championships, hosted by Oakland. The meet will take place at the Oakland Cross Country Course, starting with the women's 6K at 11 a.m., followed by the men's 8K at noon.
