
Neumeier and Pettit earn All-League honors at Horizon League Championship

ROCHESTER, Mich. — The Wright State men's and women's cross country teams turned in ninth-place finishes in the 2022 Horizon League Championship on Saturday at the Oakland University Cross Country Course.Â
Alicia Neumeier and Max Pettit headlined the Raiders by earning Second Team All-League honors. Neumeier finished 11th overall in the women's 6,000-meter race with a time of 22:22.6, while Pettit took 14th in the men's 8,000-meter race at 25:27.6.Â
Emma Shigley was close behind Neumeier in the 6K, as she earned 17th place with a time of 22:40.2. Emma Johnson (37, 23:40.0), Alycea Ruhlen (62, 25:07.3), and Anna Johnson (62, 25:23.6) rounded out the top-five individuals for the Raider women.Â
On the men's side, Alex McCarty ran to a time of 26:39.7 in the 8K, good for 52nd overall. Tayton Hess (66, 27:07.2), Ethan Neblock (70, 27:22.2), and Patrick Statzer (73, 27:33.5) were other top runners for Wright State in the championship race.Â
The Raiders will turn their attention to the Great Lakes Regional Championship on Friday, November 11, in Terre Haute, Ind., at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course. The top two teams from each regional will automatically advance to the 2021 NCAA Cross Country Championships.
