Cross Country set for Great Lakes Regional

DAYTON — The Wright State men's and women's cross country teams are set to compete in the NCAA Division I Great Lakes Cross Country Regional on Friday, November 11, at the LaVern Gibson Championship Course in Terre Haute, Indiana.Â
The women's 6,000-meter race will commence at 10 a.m., followed by the men's 10,000-meter run at 11 a.m. The cost of admission to the event is $5 per person (cash only).
The top two teams from each regional will automatically advance to the 2022 NCAA Cross Country Championships on Saturday, November 19, in Stillwater, Oklahoma.Â

The women's team will consist of Alicia Neumeier, Emma Shigley, Alycea Ruhlen, Anna Johnson, Emma Johnson, Nataly Duenas Diaz, and Brooklyn Salyers. Max Pettit, Ethan Neblock, Patrick Statzer, Alan Fullenkamp, Michael Cole, John Steimle, and Ryan Cooper will represent the Raider men in the postseason meet.Â
Wright State last competed at the 2022 Horizon League Cross Country two weekends ago, turning in ninth-place finishes on both sides. Neumeier and Pettit headlined the Raiders by earning Second Team All-League honors. Neumeier finished 11th overall in the women's 6,000-meter race with a time of 22:22.6, while Pettit took 14th in the men's 8,000-meter race at 25:27.6.Â
Shigley was close behind Neumeier in the 6K, as she earned 17th place with a time of 22:40.2. E. Johnson (37, 23:40.0), Ruhlen (62, 25:07.3), and A. Johnson (62, 25:23.6) rounded out the top-five individuals for the Raider women.Â
McCarty ran to a time of 26:39.7 in the men's 8K, good for 52nd overall. Tayton Hess (66, 27:07.2), Neblock (70, 27:22.2), and Statzer (73, 27:33.5) were other top runners for the WSU men in the championship race.Â
