Raiders tally two second half goals; battle to 2-2 draw

MILWAUKEE – A flurry of second half goals highlighted action in Wisconsin on Wednesday night, as the Wright State men's soccer team and Milwaukee each scored a pair of goals on the way to a 2-2 draw in Horizon League action.

Scoreless at the half as Wright State (2-3-4, 2-0-2 HL) had a slight, 5-4 shot advantage over Milwaukee (1-6-3, 0-2-1 HL), the teams combined for 18 second half shots as the offensive opportunities picked up.

The Raiders finished with 17 total shots, 10 of which were on frame, and had 12 attempts in the final 45 minutes as they forced Milwaukee goalkeeper Gijs Van Schouten to make six of his eight saves in the second half.

Scoreless into the 64th minute, Presten Manthey scored his first career Raider goal and gave Wright State the lead with a spinning shot off a long throw in from Brady Shapiro to give the visitors the advantage. Two minutes later, Milwaukee responded with a goal of its own thanks to Logan Farrington's bicycle kick in the box that found the back of the net.

The hosts remained the aggressors for the next several minutes, eventually taking the lead in the 72nd on Raul Medina's chip shot that just got over the outstretched hands of Raider keeper Sebastian Jimenez. From there, Wright State made its push, knotting the score in the 79th minute when Nico Likulia cleaned up a bouncing ball in front of the net that bounced off Joe Kouadio from John Lynam's original corner kick.

The Raiders were on the attack for much of the final 10 minutes but were unable to find the back of the net, settling for the road draw and the single point in the standings.

Reece Allbaugh finished with a career-high eight shots to lead all players, while his six attempts on frame were also a career- and game-high. Manthey tallied four shots and Likulia added three as Kouadio and Jacob Adams were the only other Raiders with an attempt.

Three Milwaukee players combined for nine of the hosts' 10 attempts, with Farrington, Gabe Anguil and Emil Lindgren Pedersen each recording three shots.

Wright State now returns home briefly before turning around to make the trip to metro Pittsburgh to take on Robert Morris Saturday afternoon. First kick is scheduled for 2 p.m. and the match is expected to be streamed on ESPN+.
