Raiders set for Live in Lou XC Classic

DAYTON — The Wright State cross country program will continue its season at the 21st annual Live in Lou Cross Country Classic on Saturday, October 1, at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Ky.

The men's 8,000-meter race will kick off the meet at 9:30 a.m., followed by the women's 5,000-meter race at 11:30 a.m. Awards will be presented to the top two men's and women's teams. Special awards will be given to the Top 25 finishers in each race.
The meet will stream live on FloTrack, while live results will be posted on flashresults.com.Â
Wright State will race against over 140 schools nationwide on Saturday, including four Horizon League programs in Detroit Mercy, Northern Kentucky, Purdue Fort Wayne, and Robert Morris.Â
The Raiders are coming off a strong showing at the All-Ohio Championships, as the WSU men finished sixth out of 29 teams in the 8K while the Raider women took 12th out of 32 teams in the 5K.Â
Max Pettit led Wright State with a 15th-place showing at 24:52.6, good for a personal-record time and the third-fastest mark in school history. Alex McCarty finished with a time of 25:04.6 in the men's 8K, only 11 seconds shy of his personal-record mark in the race. Pettit's and McCarty's times were the fastest posted by a Raider at Cedarville's home course, dating back to 2009.Â
Pettit's career day led to Horizon League Men's Runner of the Week honors for the first time in his collegiate career. Read more about the special recognition here.Â
On the women's side, Emma Shigley finished in 46th place with a time of 19:03.8. Alicia Neumeier was close behind Shigley in 51st at 19:06.1. Among Division I competitors, Shigley and Neumeier finished 11th and 12th overall.Â
WSU will prep for a trio of meets from October 14-15 after the Live in Lou XC Classic. The Raiders will compete at the Bradley Classic in Peoria, Ill., and the Jenna Strong Classic in Wilmington, Ohio, on October 14, followed by the Falcon Invite in Bowling Green, Ohio, on October 15.Â
