Men's Soccer slips at Oakland

ROCHESTER, MI – The Wright State men's soccer team allowed a pair of early goals Saturday as the Raiders fell 5-0 at Oakland in Horizon League action.

Wright State (3-6-4, 2-3-1 Horizon) returns to action next Saturday when the Raiders host Detroit Mercy on Senior Night. First touch is set for 7 p.m. and the match is expected to be streamed on ESPN+.

Oakland (5-6-2, 4-2 Horizon) tallied a pair of goals three minutes apart early in the first half that proved to be the difference. First, Owen Smith found the back of the net in the 20th minute before Donavan Phillip added to the advantage at the 22:40 mark. The hosts added a third goal by Malik Sylvester just before the halftime break before a goal from Mikey Ketteman in the 52nd minute and a second tally from Smith in the 63rd minute.

The Raiders finished with eight shots, four on net, with two shots each from Chris Geddis, Grant Murray and Cole Werthmuller, while Henry Hutchinson and Brady Shapiro also added shots. Smith paced Oakland with five of its 13 shots as the hosts put nine shots on frame. Oakland keeper Finn Jurak finished with four saves, all in the first half, in the win while Alessandro Malterer had four saves for the Raiders in the loss.
