Volleyball begins busy week Tuesday night at home

DAYTON — The Wright State volleyball team makes the short trip south on Saturday afternoon to take on Northern Kentucky. The Raiders and Norse will get underway at 4 p.m. and fans can follow the action via live stats.Â

LAST TIME OUT
Wright State battled back to force a deciding fifth set on the road Saturday afternoon, but the Raiders came up just short at Northern Kentucky in Horizon League action. Wright State was led by 15 kills each from Sam Ott and Aaliyah Byers, while Ott added 17 digs for her third double-double of the season and first since early September. Callie Martin added 13 kills and Megan Alders had 12 of her own as the Raiders hit .293 as a group in the loss compared to a .240 team hitting percentage by NKU. Katie Meyer passed out 29 assists and Lauren Yacobucci added 26 for Wright State as the pair ran the offense and combined for 55 of the Raiders' 59 helpers. Jenny Wessling finished with a match-best 21 digs, while Jenny Morey collected 14 digs as she joined Wessling and Ott with double digit digs.

TAKING ON THE COLONIALS
Wright State and Robert Morris meet Tuesday for the second time this season after the Raiders opened Horizon League play with a four-set victory at RMU back on September 19. Wright State is 9-0 all-time against the Colonials. In the first meeting this season, Megan Alders and Aaliyah Byers each finished with a match-leading 16 kills for the Raiders while Callie Martin tallied a double-double with 13 kills and 17 digs, just shy of Jenny Wessling's match-best 21 digs. Katie Meyer passed out 43 of the Raiders' 53 assists, while Reilly Zegunis recorded six blocks and added five kills. Wessling and Lauren Yacobucci each tallied two service aces and Andrea Bortulin had the other Raider ace.

Prior to the Oct. 21 match, the last time the Raiders had multiple setters with double-digit assists in the same match was Oct. 8, 2021 in a sweep over IUPUI, with Meyer passing out 13 assists and former Raider Lainey Stephenson tallying 19 assists.
