Raider Bowlers bring home first-, second-place finishes in first event

COLUMBUS – The Wright State bowling team opened its 2023-24 campaign with a strong showing in the Ohio Bowling Conference's Event 1 at Columbus Square Bowling Palace on Saturday, with the Raiders taking home first and second place team finishes in the event.

Wright State's 'Green' squad - Alex Drsek, Makenzie Gossett, Natalie Hanson, Rylie Jeanneret, Mia Sayles. Jasmine Schulze, Allison Shattuck and Alina Stebbins – finished second in their division out of 18 teams, tallying 6,461 total pins between five five-person team games and 12 Baker games, finishing only behind Muskingum in the deep field.

The Raider 'Gold' group - Abby Derham, Emma Hatfield, Abbigail Huhn, Anna Johns, Kennedy Moore, Paige Patterson and Phoenix Perry – won their five-team division, finishing with a 4,737 pinfall between their team and Baker games, nearly 100 pins more than second-place Walsh in their bracket.

Saturday was the first of the Raiders' 14 scheduled tournaments during their second NCAA campaign overall and the first of five Ohio Bowling Conference events. Wright State is back in action next weekend at the MOTIV Penguin Classic, hosted by Youngstown State, beginning Friday and going through Sunday.
