Raider Volleyball closes regular season on the road this weekend

DAYTON — The Wright State volleyball team hits the road this weekend to close out the regular season, traveling to take on Purdue Fort Wayne on Friday night at 6 p.m. before visiting IUPUI for a 4 p.m. start on Saturday afternoon. Fans can follow the action both days via live stats and both matches will also be on ESPN+.

LAST TIME OUT
Wright State grabbed two wins at home last week, taking down Milwaukee on Friday night for Senior Night before downing Green Bay on Saturday. On Friday, fifth-year seniors Megan Alders, Callie Martin and Katie Meyer led the way, with Alders tallying a match-best 17 kills and Martin collecting a double-double with 15 kills and 10 digs while Meyer passed out 49 of the Raiders' 58 assists. Saturday, Megan Alders led the way with a match-high 18 kills while Sam Ott tallied a double-double with 15 kills and 18 digs. Aaliyah Byers added 14 kills and Reilly Zegunis notched 13 kills of her own to complete the quartet in double figures offensively. Katie Meyer distributed 54 of the Raiders' 66 assists for a double-double of her own after she added 13 digs.Â
HISTORY AGAINST THE 'DONS
The Raiders grabbed a three-set sweep at home back in mid-October and now have tallied three straight three-set sweeps in the series. Wright State now leads the all-time series 16-10. Wright State has won eight straight meetings dating back to a non-conference matchup in 2015 before Purdue Fort Wayne joined the Horizon.
SERIES VS. THE JAGUARS
Wright State swept IUPUI in three sets at home in the first meeting in mid-October and now lead the all-time series 15-8. Wright State has won 11 straight meetings dating back to the 2018 campaign.
KNOW THE FOES
- Purdue Fort Wayne comes into Friday at 10-18 overall with a 5-11 Horizon League record. The Mastodons lost at home on Tuesday night and are 2-3 in their last five matches and just 3-7 overall at home this season.Â
- IUPUI begins the weekend 9-18 with a 3-13 Horizon League mark. The Jaguars have lost eight of their last nine matches overall dating back to the first meeting with Wright State in mid-October but have tallied five of their nine wins at home.

Wright State enters the weekend No. 12 nationally with 37.67 team attacks per set and No. 16 in total team attacks (3,842), while the Raiders are No. 19 nationally in team digs per set (16.76) and No. 11 nationally total team digs (1,710). Individually, Jenny Wessling is ranked No. 11 with her 5.30 digs per set average, while her 541 total digs are No. 6 nationally.Â

Graduate students Megan Alders and Callie Martin sit atop nearly all of Wright State's offensive categories, including kills (Alders 326, Martin 293), kills per set (Alders 3.23, Martin 2.90). The pair also pace the Raiders in total points and points per set while having logged the most attack attempts on the roster.
ALL(DERS) KILLS
Megan Alders tallied a combined 35 kills in her final regular season home matches on Nov. 3 and 4, setting a new single season high mark in kills - currently at 326. Her previous high mark was 306 kills set back in 2021. Alders has recorded 200-plus kills three times in her career, with all coming the last three seasons (270 in 2022 and 306 in 2021) after barely missing the mark as a freshman with 197 kills.
CALLIE IT
Callie Martin enters the weekend with 10 double-doubles on the season, including a stretch of five double-doubles in six matches from Sept. 29 through Oct. 14. She's recorded 10-plus kills 15 times and has had 10-plus digs in 17 matches overall. She had 12 double-doubles in 2022.
A THOUSAND HELPERS
Katie Meyer reached the 1,000 career assist mark on October 7 at Milwaukee with a 43-assist effort. Meyer recorded a combined 152 helpers over her first three seasons (2019-21) before passing out 371 assists in 2022. She has 869 assists and counting this season, passing out helpers at a 10.22 assists/set clip.
