
Golf heads to North Carolina coast this weekend

DAYTON – The Wright State golf team participates in the Seahawk Intercollegiate beginning Sunday morning as Tyler Goecke enters the tournament as the defending individual champion. The two-day tournament will get underway daily with 8:30 a.m. shotgun starts both mornings at the Country Club of Landfall outside of Wilmington, North Carolina.

Teams will play 36 holes on Sunday before the final round Monday morning on Country Club of Landfall's Dye Course, which will play as a par 72, 7,031-yard layout.

In addition to the No. 80-ranked Raiders, the field features five other ranked teams: No. 28 TCU, No. 51 Clemson, No. 71 UNC Wilmington, No. 76 Davidson and No. 93 Toledo. The remainder of the 17-team field includes Nebraska, Maryland, James Madison, Appalachian State, Francis Marion, Campbell, Coastal Carolina, USC Upstate, Stetson, Georgetown and Charleston Southern.

The 20-team field also includes Austin Peay, Augusta, Bellarmine, Belmont, Central Florida, Davidson, High Point, Marshall, Morehead State, Murray State, Radford, Richmond, Siena, USC Upstate, Weber State, Western Kentucky, Xavier and tournament-host Western Carolina.

Wright State is coming off a second-place team finish at the Sea Palms Invitational two weeks ago as Mikkel Mathiesen won the individual title in Georgia and was named Horizon League Golfer of the Week for his play. This will be the final trip on the regular season schedule for the Raiders, who host the Wright State Invitational in mid-April before the Horizon League Championship the following week in Florida.
