Raiders capture Mounties Roundup title

ALTOONA, PA – The Wright State bowling team swept through a pair of baker matches on Sunday to capture the team title at the Mounties Roundup for their first NCAA tournament victory in program history.

After going 4-0 in traditional games on Saturday, the Raiders opened Sunday with a victory over Penn State-Behrend 4-2 to advance to the finals, where they again met Penn State-Behrend, who had fought back from the losers bracket. In the championship, the Raiders tallied a 4-2 win to capture the title.

Makenzie Gossett led the all-tournament team with a 1,037 total pinfall and Zoe Paxhia-Poppaw finished fourth individually with a pinfall of 858 to earn her own spot on the all-tournament team.

The Raiders are back in action this weekend at the USBC Collegiate Sectionals and then wrap up their first season at the Columbia 300 Music City Classic March 17-10, with both events taking place in Smyrna, TN at the Smyrna Bowling Center.
