Raiders wrap up competition at Cherry Blossom Invitational

ATHENS, Ohio — The Wright State men's and women's track and field program continued its outdoor season at the Cherry Blossom Invitational hosted by Ohio University on Saturday.
The Raiders combined for 18 top-10 finishes, including two third-place finishes and one individual win.Â
Emma Johnson claimed WSU's lone victory of the day, placing first out of five competitors in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a personal-record time of 11:17.44.Â
The Raider women earned three top-10 marks in 100-meter hurdles, led by Bekah Robertson in third (15.32), Kylee Thomas in fourth (15.74), and Callista Hess in 10th (17.52).Â
Thomas also placed fifth in the 400-meter hurdles at 1:08.74, while Hess took fifth overall in the triple jump (10.07m).Â
Mia Wyngarden raced to third overall in the 400-meter dash (59.22) and 10th in the 200-meter dash (26.53).Â
Cierra Lively took part in two events, placing sixth in the triple jump (9.83m) and eighth in the high jump (1.55m). Tatiana Brown was seventh in the triple (9.79m) and 10th in the high jump (1.50m).
Melissa Siler was Wright State's top finisher in the long jump, earning seventh with a clearance of 4.98 meters. Robertson was ninth in the event at 4.89 meters.
The Raider men were at their best with three top-10 finishes in the 1,500-meter run. Jacob Poling led the way by taking eighth overall with a time of 4:09.45, followed by Ethan Neblock in ninth (4:10.18) and Tayton Hess in 10th (4:10.79).Â
Mohamed Bilal had Wright State's best time in the 400-meter dash, placing eighth in 50.79 seconds.Â
The Raiders will continue their outdoor season at the Otterbein Twilight on Friday, April 21. A small contingent of runners will compete at the Jesse Owens Classic hosted by Ohio State from April 21-22.
