HUNTINGTON, WV – The Wright State men's soccer team faced its toughest test of the young season on Monday night, as the Raiders fell at No. 11 Marshall 5-0 on the road.
Â
Wright State (0-1-1) now returns home to get set for its first home action of the season, as the Raiders host St. Francis (PA) on Saturday afternoon in a 3 p.m. first kick at Alumni Field.
Â
On Monday, Raider goalkeeper Natan Admassu made a beautiful save in turning away a penalty kick opportunity from Marshall's Alvaro Garcia-Pascual less than two minutes into the action to keep the action scoreless. However, the Marshall attack continued, resulting in four first half goals for the hosts before they added a fifth and final score in the 70th minute of action. Admassu finished the night with six saves in 45 minutes of action.
Â
Wright State finished the night with nine total shots, paced by two shots from Felix Ezekwuka as seven other Raiders tallied a shot each. Cameron Radeke and Samuel Rudjord each saw their attempts go on goal, forcing Marshall keeper Gabriel Perrotta into his only saves of the night.
Â
Eight different Marshall players recorded a shot, led by Garcia-Pascual's six attempts, while Marco Silva recorded a hat trick for the hosts in the win.
Â
The Raiders return home for Saturday's matchup with St. Francis will be short, as they then hit the road again for their next two contests, including opening Horizon League play at IUPUI on September 9.
