Volleyball hits the road for Tuesday night contest

DAYTON — The Wright State volleyball team hits the road for the second straight Tuesday night in Horizon League play as the Raiders travel to take on Youngstown State. Wright State has opened Horizon play with a pair of home wins, while the Penguins are 1-2 in HL action with two of their three matches on the road so far. Tuesday night's match will get underway at 6 p.m. and fans can follow the action via live stats and watch on ESPN+.

LAST TIME OUT
Wright State hit .450 as a group in the opening set to set the tone as the Raiders defeated Northern Kentucky in four sets on Saturday afternoon in Horizon League action. Wright State tallied 19 kills in the opening set behind the .450 hitting percentage on the way to a .267 overall percentage in the win. Northern Kentucky saw its hitting percentage drop throughout the afternoon, connecting at a .250 pace in the first set before finishing with a .147 hitting percentage. Callie Martin was on fire, leading all players with 19 kills as she tallied her fourth double-double of the season as she added 17 digs. Megan Alders tallied 14 kills of her own, while Sam Ott just missed a double-double with 12 digs and nine kills. Aaliyah Byers also tallied nine kills to go along with five blocks. Lauren Yacobucci passed out 49 of Wright State's 58 assists in her first collegiate start, while Jenny Wessling paced the Raider back line with 21 digs.

- Youngstown State enters Tuesday's match at 6-8 overall and 1-2 in Horizon League play, with the Penguins coming off a Saturday four-set road loss at Cleveland State. Youngstown State opened HL play at home last Tuesday with a threee-set loss to Northern Kentucky and grabbed a win at Oakland in four sets on Friday ahead of the Cleveland State loss. The Penguins are 1-4 overall at home to date, dropping the last four home contests (hosted three games in tournament action the first week, single contests vs. Akron and NKU). Sophomore Abbie Householder posted a career-high 17 kills in Saturday's loss at Clevleand State and recently reached 300 kills and 400 digs. Fifth-year player Josi Borum surpassed 1,000 career kills last week and Isidora Sisic surpassed 750 digs in her career last week as well.
MARTIN NAMED HL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Callie Martin was named the Horizon League Player of the Week on Sept. 25 after tallying a pair of double-doubles in wins over Robert Morris and Northern Kentucky. Martin opened the week with a 13 kill, 17 dig effort on the road against RMU, adding a trio of blocks in the four-set win. She added to her stat line with 19 kills and 17 digs in the home victory over NKU, adding three more blocks and a pair of service aces. For the week, Martin averaged 4.00 kills per set (32 total kills) and 4.25 digs per set (34 total digs), collecting a .455 attack percentage after having just two errors in 66 total attacks over the two contests.
FIFTH YEAR FAVES
Graduate students Megan Alders and Callie Martin sit atop nearly all of Wright State's offensive categories, including kills (Alders 159, Martin 132), kills per set (Alders 3.31, Martin 2.75). The pair also paces the Raiders in total points and points per set while having logged the most attack attempts on the roster.
SETTING THE TONE
Freshman Lauren Yacobucci made her first career start on Sept. 23 against Northern Kentucky and passed out 49 assists in the four-set win after entering the match with 20 total assists across her first seven matches (12 combined sets). Â Her 49 assists are the most by a Raider this season and the most in a Wright State match since former setter Lainey Stephenson had 54 assists in five sets against Green Bay last October. Yacobucci's 49 assists are the most in a four-set contest since Stephenson had 54 helpers against Oakland last October.
