
Flynn paces Raiders at Virtues Intercollegiate

NASHPORT, OH – The Wright State golf finished sixth at the Virtues Intercollegiate, with Andrew Flynn leading the way individually with a four-under final card to finish tied for 12th.

The Raiders finished the tournament at seven-under overall, well ahead of the five other Horizon League schools in the field: Purdue Fort Wayne (9th, +4), Northern Kentucky (10th, +13), Robert Morris (t13th, +19), Youngstown State (t13th, +19) and Cleveland State (17th, +25).

Wright State wraps up its fall schedule in three weeks, playing in the Dayton Flyer Invitational at NCR Country Club on October 16 and 17.

This week, the remaining Raiders were all bunched up within a few shots of each other behind Flynn, with Mikkel Mathiesen finishing at even par for the tournament in a tie for 27th and Adam Horn finishing one-over in a tie for 31st. Ian Asch was tied for 38th at three-over and Shane Ochs was four-over in a tie for 46th.

Flynn's second round seven-under 65 was the second-lowest round of the tournament and helped him bounce back from a four-over 76 in his opening 18 holes. He carded a one-under 71 on Tuesday in his final round. Mathiesen tallied a pair of under-par rounds on Monday, carding a two-under 70 and a one-under 71 before shooting three-over (75) on Tuesday. Horn was up and down over his three rounds, opening with a three-under 69 before a four-over 76 later Monday, wrapping up his tournament with and even par round of 72. Asch carded his best round of the tournament on Tuesday, closing with a three-under 69 after rounds of 76 (+4) and 74 (+2) on Monday. Ochs began Monday with a two-over 74 before balancing his day with a second round 71 (-1) and wrapping up with a three-over 75 Tuesday.
