Volleyball set for final regular season home matches this weekend

DAYTON — The Wright State volleyball team opens its final regular season homestand this weekend with a pair of matches against Purdue Fort Wayne for a pair of Horizon League contests inside McLin Gymnasium, beginning with a 6 p.m. match on Friday night before a 2 p.m. start on Saturday afternoon.
Saturday's match is Senior Day, with ceremony activities taking place after the match.

LAST TIME OUT
Wright State tallied a trio of sweeps last week, first at NKU last Tuesday before home wins over Robert Morris last weekend. The Raiders hit .340 as a group over the nine sets as five players notched double digit kills, paced by 30 kills each from Mya Ayro and Reilly Zegunis. Lauren Yacobucci passed out 104 assists, an 11.56 assists per set average, while Jenny Wessling finished with 47 digs as three Raiders collected 20-plus digs for the week.
NATIONALLY SPEAKING. . .
Wright State enters the weekend with a  13.91 assists per set average, tops in the country, while the Raiders' 14.72 kills per set average is No. 2 in the country. Lauren Yacobucci's 12.00 assist per set average is No. 1 in the country while her 1,056 total assists are also No. 1 nationally. Jenny Wessling has a 4.98 digs per set average, currently No. 21 in the country.
DEFEND McLIN
Since the start of the 2018 season, Wright State is 68-12 overall in home matches inside McLin Gymnasium after a 21-60 home mark (and just 54 total victories, home or otherwise) from 2011-2016.
RPI SEE YOU
In the latest RPI release on Nov. 3, Wright State was ranked No. 37 nationally, by far the best in the Horizon League. Milwaukee (No. 80) is the only other HL team inside the Top 100.
KNOW THE FOE
- Purdue Fort Wayne is 15-12 overall with an 8-6 Horizon League mark, coming off a pair of home losses to Milwaukee last weekend that snapped what had been a three-match winning streak. The Mastodons are 8-2 at home to date but just 4-7 in true road matches.Â
STANDING TALL
With two weeks remaining in the regular season, Wright State currently sits atop the Horizon League standings with a 13-1 mark in HL play, one match ahead of second-place Milwaukee (12-2). There's currently a three-way tie for third-place entering the weekend, with Cleveland State, Purdue Fort Wayne and Green Bay all 8-6. The Raiders closing the regular season at Oakland (t9th, 3-11) next weekend.
