Volleyball closes home regular season slate with Senior Day sweep

DAYTON – The Wright State volleyball team closed out its regular season home schedule with a three-set sweep over Purdue Fort Wayne Saturday afternoon on Senior Day inside McLin Gymnasium.

Following the sweep, the Raiders celebrated the careers of five players - Taylor Bransfield, Camryn Hausler, Jenny Morey, Sam Ott and Jenny Wessling.

Wright State (23-4, 15-1 Horizon) now closes the regular season on the road with a pair of matches at Oakland next weekend. The Raiders head into the final weekend a game ahead in the standings in front of second-place Milwaukee (14-2 Horizon). The 2024 Horizon League Championship takes place November 22-24 at the site of the regular season champion.

On Saturday, the Raiders jumped out to an early advantage with a comfortable 25-11 first set win before Purdue Fort Wayne (15-14, 8-8 Horizon) battled back in the second set, with Wright State pulling out a 25-23 set win before wrapping up the afternoon with a 25-16 third set win. The Raiders finished the sweep off with a .356 team hitting percentage, tallying 43 kills against just six errors, while Purdue Fort Wayne hit .094 as a group with 21 errors and just 31 kills.

Bransfield led the Raiders with 11 kills as Reilly Zegunis also tallied double digit kills with 10 of her own, as each recorded four blocks. Mya Ayro notched eight kills and five digs while Ott turned in seven kills and nine digs. Lauren Yacobucci passed out 41 of Wright State's 43 assists, adding seven digs, three blocks and a pair of service aces, while Jenny Wessling and Katie Sowko both collected double digit digs with 12 and 11, respectively.
