Women's Basketball closes strong for Wednesday win

DAYTON – Tied with less than three minutes to play, the Wright State women's basketball team tallied the next nine points and 12 of the final 16 points overall to grab a 76-68 victory over Detroit Mercy on Wednesday night in the Raiders' final regular season home contest inside the Nutter Center.
Wright State (16-13, 10-8 Horizon) was paced by Alexis Hutchison's fourth double-double of the season with 26 points and 16 rebounds, as she connected on 9-of-17 from the floor and was 6-of-8 at the free throw stripe. Her 16 rebounds are the most in a game in her career, while Wednesday was her 13th game this season with 20 or more points.
Kacee Baumhower had a complete stat line of her own, finishing with 18 points with a 7-of-7 mark at the free throw line while adding four assists, two steals and a pair of rebounds while connecting on a trio of three-pointers. Rachel Loobie was the third Raider in double digits scoring with 12 points, adding six rebounds and two blocks.
Wright State was 22-of-28 (79 percent) as a group at the free throw stripe in the win, including a 14-of-18 mark from the line in the final 10 minutes. The Raiders shot 47 percent overall from the floor (23-of-49) while connecting on 8-of-19 (42 percent) from three-point range, however seven of those came across the second and third quarters. Robert Morris shot 45 percent (25-of-56) while the visitors were 6-of-17 (35 percent) from three-point range and were 12-of-17 (71 percent) at the free throw line.
Simone Morris had 14 points to lead three RMU players with double figure scoring games in the loss, as the visitors saw nine different players find the scoring column overall.
