Raiders leading The Jewell, three in top five individually heading into final round

BATAVIA, OH – The Wright State golf team is the only team under par after Saturday's opening day of action at The Jewell, with the Raiders sitting at nine-under as a team while Mikkel Mathiesen leading on the individual leaderboard. Sunday's final round will tee off with a 10 a.m. shotgun start.

The Raiders carded a first round 286 as a group to lead by one shot over three different teams through 18 holes before extending the margin in the second round with a team 273 score. Wright State enters Sunday's final round ahead of three other Horizon League schools, with Oakland (+2) second, Cleveland State (+7) third and Detroit Mercy (+9) fourth with 18 holes to play.

Behind Mathiesen in first individually, Andrew Flynn is three-under in a tie for third and Adam Horn is tied for fifth at two-under.

Mathiesen opened with a first round 68 that saw four birdies and one bogey, coming on his second hole of the day, before he carded six birdies with no blemishes on the way to a second round 65 to enter Sunday with a one-shot individual lead over NKU's Tyler Mitts. Flynn carded a first round 69 with four birdies and a pair of bogeys before a second round 70 with two birdies and a bogey. Horn opened with a three-over first round 74 as he worked through three bogeys and a double bogey before he responded with a second round 66 that saw five birdies and an eagle on the par five third hole.

Shane Ochs is five-over and tied for 35th after two rounds, opening with a 75 before a second round 72, while Kye Fisher is nine-over and tied for 52nd after carding rounds of 76 and 75. Playing as an individual, Timmy Hollenbeck is seven-over and tied for 42nd after rounds of 76 and 73.
