Volleyball closes non-conference action with Saturday sweep

INDIANAPOLIS – The Wright State volleyball team closed out non-conference play Saturday afternoon with a three-set sweep over Butler as a pair of Raiders turned in 10 kills.

Wright State (8-3) now turns its attention to Horizon League play, which will begin for the Raiders next weekend with a pair of games in the same city as they take on IU Indy on Friday and Saturday.

Against Butler (2-10), the Raiders were in control all afternoon, finishing the match with a 42-27 advantage in total kills as they recorded just 15 errors in the sweep, while defensively Wright State had an 8-2 edge in blocks and a 55-38 advantage in digs.

Wright State took the opening set 25-19, followed by a 25-20 second set and closed the afternoon with a 25-13 third set win.

Taylor Bransfield and Sam Ott each turned in 10 kills, with Bransfield adding five blocks and Ott filling her stat line with three blocks, three digs and two service aces. Mya Ayro notched nine kills of her own, while Elena Dubuc added six kills, Katie Sowko turned in four kills and Reilly Zegunis had three kills.

Lauren Yacobucci passed out 35 of the Raiders' 41 assists, with Jenny Wessling collecting 25 digs, both match-highs, as Jenny Morey added nine digs as nine different players had a dig for Wright State.
