DAYTON – The Wright State women's soccer team defeated Cleveland State 3-2 on Sunday afternoon. The second half comeback victory came from goals by Caitlin Burger, Samara Nunn, and Olivia Stroud.

Leading the way for WSU was Nunn with four shots, three on goal. Addy Canter, Makenzie Chinn, Ruby Dunlevy, Stroud, and Alyssa Thomas all had two shots, while Burger, Elise Canter, Allison Charleston, and Kaylee Pham each added one shot. Goalkeeper Kiera Sarka added her third win of the season, logging 90 minutes of play and tallying one save. Joining Sarka in the complete game was defender Pham.
The Raiders had 11 shots in the first half, two each from Chinn, Nunn, and Thomas. The Vikings held a 1-0 lead after the first 45, finding the back of the net in the 16th minute with a shot by Mayra Sesmas. CSU goalkeeper Elyse Broederick had three saves in the first half.
WSU's comeback began just 25 seconds into the second half, as Nunn placed a pass under a Viking defender for Caitlin Burger to find the back of the net, tying the game at one. CSU was quick to react, regaining the advantage in the 53rd minute with a goal by Erica Leinweber. Their lead was not long lived, as Nunn sped down the pitch, sneaking a shot past a Viking defender and goalkeeper, recording her first goal as a Raider in the 53rd minute.
The Raiders added three more shots, and CSU one, but neither found success. That was until Stroud strategically placed a shot inside the 18, finding the bottom right corner in the 86th minute, giving WSU a 3-2 victory over the Vikings.
The Raiders will play again next Saturday, October 5 at Youngstown State. The game is set for an 11 a.m. kickoff with live stats provided.
