Raiders Come Up Just Short Thursday Evening at Green Bay

GREEN BAY, WI- The Wright State women's soccer team came up just short at Green Bay Thursday evening, falling 1-2. The loss is the Raiders' first in Horizon League play and first since September 4 against Bellarmine.

Wright State (6-6-3, 3-1-3 HL) will remain in America's Dairyland to face off against the top-seeded and unbeaten Milwaukee Panthers on Sunday afternoon. First touch is slated for 2 p.m.

Green Bay opened the scoring in the 16th minute thanks to Laney Stark. Stark took advantage of a poor clearance by the Raiders and dribbled the ball into space just outside the 18-yard box and fired a shot that curled into the top corner of the net.

The Phoenix doubled their lead in the 64th minute when Senah Hanes received a long through ball that she dribbled into the box and slotted the ball into the bottom corner of the net.

Ruby Dunlevy would cut the deficit in half for the Raiders in the 70th minute. Amber Branum got the ball around the halfway line and played a pass up the right wing to Samara Nunn, who found space and played a cross into the box that found Dunlevy unmarked at the back post for an easy tap-in goal. The Goal is Dunlevy's third on the season and ties her for the team lead with Caitlin Burger and Nunn.

In the box score, Wright State trailed Green Bay in shots (6-12) and shots on goal (4-9), but led in corner kick opportunities (3-0). Kaitlyn Eyink played all 90 minutes in the field for Wright State.
