
Bowlers finish second in season-opening weekend at Mercyhurst Invitational

ERIE, PA – The Wright State bowling team finished second at the Mercyhurst Invitational, falling to Niagara in the championship match to close the opening weekend of the season.

The Raiders opened competition on Saturday with a 3-2 record and sat in first place entering Sunday action before tallying three wins on Sunday before falling to Niagara 4-2 in the championship match. Wright State finished the weekend with 7,648 total pinfall count and a 191.2 average game score.

Earlier on Sunday, Wright State defeated D'Youville (1,006-730) in Baker competition and also had a 4-3 win over host Mercyhurst in best-of-7 Baker action before the matchup with Niagara.

The Raiders were led by Alli Shattuck, who averaged a 214.00 and had a total pinfall of 1,070 to lead all individuals on Friday. She was followed by teammate Mia Sayles in second individually with a 212.20 average and 1,061 total pinfall. Behind that pair were Jasmine Schulze in 12th with a 181.80 game average, while Kylie Fisher (26th, 177.50 average) and Addy Meshew (28th, 170.50 average) were also inside the Top 30 individually.

Wright State is next back in action next weekend at the Warhawk Classic, hosted by Wisconsin-Whitewater in the Chicagoland area at The Cherrry Bowl in Rockford, Illinois.
