Second half comeback effort comes up short

DAYTON – The Wright State men's basketball team used an 11-0 scoring run midway through the second half to pull to within single digits Tuesday night, but the Raiders were unable to complete the comeback in an 83-76 home loss to Miami (OH) inside the Nutter Center.

Wright State (5-7) remains at home next Monday night as the Raiders wrap up non-conference action with a matchup against Eastern Michigan inside the Nutter Center. Monday's contest is set for a 7 p.m. tipoff and fans can follow the action several ways – on ESPN+, via live stats or by tuning in to the Wright State Radio Network – 101.5 FM 'The Fridge' and WING 1410 AM. Chris Collins and Jim Brown will have all the play-by-play action on the radio and television feeds.

The Raiders played from behind all evening on Tuesday against Miami (11-0) before the second half run, tallying the 11 straight points as part of a larger 14-2 run to pull to within seven at 66-59 and force a Miami timeout. The visitors came out of the break and scored eight of the next 10 points to push the margin back apart.

Michael Cooper dropped his third-straight 20-plus point performance, leading Wright State with 21 points as he added six rebounds, two assists and a pair of steals, while Michael Imariagbe tallied 16 points with a game-best seven rebounds as the other Raider in double figures scoring. Dominic Pangonis and Logan Woods each chipped in nine points and four rebounds, while Andrea Holden grabbed four boards of his own with six points.

Wright State shot 43 percent overall (27-of-63) but was just 3-of-21 (14 percent) from three-point range. Miami finished the night at 55 percent overall shooting (28-of-51) with a 53 percent clip (10-of-19) from deep, including eight first half three-pointers.

Brant Byers scored a game-high 27 points to lead four Miami players in double figures, with Evan Ipsaro adding 12 points and both Almar Atlason and Peter Suder finishing with 10 points for the visitors.
