LAST TIME OUTÂ
Wright State used an 11-0 scoring run midway through the second half to pull to within single digits last Tuesday, but the Raiders were unable to complete the comeback in an 83-76 home loss to Miami (OH). Michael Cooper dropped his third-straight 20-plus point performance, leading Wright State with 21 points as he added six rebounds, two assists and a pair of steals, while Michael Imariagbe tallied 16 points with a game-best seven rebounds as the other Raider in double figures scoring. Dominic Pangonis and Logan Woods each chipped in nine points and four rebounds, while Andrea Holden grabbed four boards of his own with six points.
HONORARY HORIZON LEAGUERS
Monday's contest against the Raiders will be Eastern Michigan's fifth and final game against the 11-team Horizon League, with EMU currently 2-2 against the HL. Eastern Michigan tallied HL wins at Detroit Mercy and at home against Oakland, while losing to HL members IU Indy and at Purdue Fort Wayne. Continuing with the common opponent theme, Eastern Michigan and Wright State both lost at Butler, while EMU will face future HL member Northern Illinois, along with Kent State, Toledo and Miami (OH) as part of its MAC slate.
EYING THE EAGLES
Wright State and Eastern Michigan meet Monday for just the second time in program history following an 86-82 EMU win in Michigan last year on December 21. Last season, Logan Woods tallied 10 points, while Solomon Callaghan had seven points and Michael Imariagbe added five points for the Raiders.Â
EASTERN FACTS
- Eastern Michigan is 6-6 overall and has lost its last two contests, falling at Purdue Fort Wayne on Dec. 10 and entering Monday coming off a 93-72 road loss at Akron.Â
- Eastern Michigan is just 2-5 on the road to date, with wins at Horizon League foe Detroit Mercy (72-62) and at Cincinnati (67-56).Â
HITTING FROM DEEP. . . SOMETIMES
The Raiders have already connected on double-digit three-pointers three times this season (14, Stetson / 13, Radford / 12, Marshall) after tallying 10-plus triples 10 times in 33 games a year ago. Wright State's 14 three-pointers in the Nov. 25 win at Stetson was just two triples shy of the program record 16 set last December at Oakland. Conversely, the Raiders have a pair of games with just three made three-pointers, their fewest triples since hitting two three-pointers back in the 2023-24 season.
MICHAEL MAKING A MARK
Michael Cooper enters Monday leading Wright State with his 15.8 points per game average, which is currently the seventh-best scoring average in the Horizon League overall and the top scoring mark in the HL among freshman players. Cooper has three straight games with 20-plus points, which is tied for the sixth-most 20-plus point efforts in the HL to date.
BIG MIKE
Michael Imariagbe has double-digit scoring performances in eight of 12 games, tallying his first double-double of the year with a 13-point, 10-rebound effort against Ohio Wesleyan (Nov. 20) and notching a season-best 17 points against Toledo. He grabbed 13 rebounds at Butler (Nov. 28) and added another 10-rebound game on Nov. 15 versus Radford.
