Women’s Soccer to host Marshall Wednesday Evening

DAYTON- The Wright State women's soccer team returns home to Alumni Field Wednesday, August 27 as the Marshall Thundering Herd come to town. First touch is set for 7 p.m.

SCOUTING THE THUNDERING HERD
Marshall is off to a perfect 3-0 record to start the 2025 campaign their best start to a season since 2009 when they rattled off seven wins to start the season. Senior, Bailey Fisher, leads the offense for the Herd scoring a goal in each of Marshall's contests.
HISTORY VS. MARSHALL
Wednesday evening's match up will be the fifth all time between Wright State and Marshall, a series that the Raiders lead 3-0-1 overall. The two teams last met in the 2021 season opener with WSU winning 2-1 (2 OT) on the road in Huntington.

LAST SEASON REWIND
Wright State finished the 2024 season with a 5-10-2 overall record and a 3-5-2 mark in Horizon League play. The Raiders were 3-2-2 at home at Alumni Field, including a 2-0-1 mark at home down the stretch last fall to close the campaign.
ALL-CONFERENCE TALENT
Wright State returns a pair of All-Horizon League selections from last season after Elise Canter earned 2024 All-League Second Team honors and Olivia Stroud was named to the All-Freshman Team. Canter collected All-League honors for the second time in her collegiate career after also being named to the All-Freshman Team in 2022. The midfielder was only one of three Raiders to appear and start in all 17 games, logging over 1000 minutes of play. Stroud played in all 17 contests for the Raiders last season with 14 starting nods, including all starting all 10 HL contests. The forward led the team and sits in the top 10 league marks in goals (T-9th, 5) and game-winning goals (T-6th, 2). She also led the 2024 Raiders with 12 points and had the second most shots on goal (14).
SIZING UP THE 2025 SQUAD
WSU welcomes eight newcomers — including seven freshmen — to this season's roster. The Raiders' 34-player roster includes the seven freshmen, six sophomores, 10 juniors, nine seniors and a pair of graduate students.

Wright State's 2025 roster features 24 players from Ohio – including 14 from the Dayton metro area (Beavercreek, Bellbrook, Dayton, Miamisburg, Springboro, Tipp City, Troy, Vandalia, Xenia).
